Attachments associated with email messages are available for download to a device. Messages that contain attachments display a paperclip icon on the message list.
When the message is open, the attachments are listed above the Subject field. The name of the attachment and its estimated size are displayed.

indicates that the attachment has not yet been downloaded.
Download and Open the Attachment
1. Open the message, highlight the attachment you wish to download, and select Retrieve from the menu. The attachment will begin to download as long as the device has an application installed that supports and can open the file type. A progress bar displays while the attachment is downloading.
NOTE: If the message is an HTML email with images and you have the Automatic Image Download option enabled in the Email Settings, a progress bar will also appear as images download.

2. Once the download is complete, the attachment opens with the appropriate application for file type. The following chart lists the applications that can be used to open the various types of files:

Editing Word and Excel Attachments
If you intend to edit Word or Excel files, they must be opened with a purchased copy of Documents To Go Premium Edition.
Display the attachment list screen again, select the downloaded attachment. From the popup menu, select the application with which to open and edit the attachment. The menu only displays applications that support the type of attachment selected.
Saving an Attachment File to the Device
1. Open the message containing the attachment.
2. Highlight the attachment select Save As from the menu.
3. Choose where to save the attachment.

4. When the save is complete a dialog displays showing the location of the file. The downloaded attachment data moves to the storage location. The attachment in the list will reflect 0 bytes downloaded again.

Attachment Viewing Options
While opening and viewing attachments directly from NotifyLink is probably the most convenient way to view attachments, there are alternative methods. Viewing an attachment can be done from:
NotifyLink when accessing Email
Documents To Go found on the main screen or under Applications
BeamReader found on the main screen or under Applications
The various attachment viewing applications available support different file types.
There are also editing applications for Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. Documents To Go, Premium Edition which comes with BlackBerry Os version 7.0 or higher provides editing functionality.

Viewing Attachments From NotifyLink
You can open a message listed in your Inbox and view its attachment using attachment viewers or editors.
1. Open the Email containing your attachment.
2. Highlight the downloaded attachment you wish to view and either select Open Attachment or press the trackball.

Viewing Attachments Using Viewing Applications
1. From the devices main screen or the Applications option, select the appropriate application for the file type:

BeamReader (if purchased)
2. If using a Documents To Go application, click on the
link Open a file
Then navigate to the files location and select
it from the list.
Or highlight a recently used document and select
Open from the popup menu. If using the BeamReader
application, navigate to the files location and select it from the list.

Viewing Plaintext Attachments
Plaintext attachments over 30K will be displayed on multiple pages, each page containing up to 30K of the attachment. Several navigational features are available for such attachments:
A field showing the current page number and the total number of pages Ex: Page 3 of 5
Menu options to go to the Next and Previous page
A Go To Page menu option where you can select the page you want to view
Viewing Contact Attachments (VCards)
File attachments with an extension of .vcf are assumed to be VCards (contact information). These files have the same functionality of other file attachments in NotifyLink such as downloading, viewing, and deleting and they can be saved to the address book. Several menu options are available for this type of attachment:
Save As Contact saves the selected Vcard attachment(s) to the address book.
View displays the actual file content on the screen using the NotifyLink text viewer.
View Attachment Name displays the full name of the attachment you have selected from the table.
