NotifyLink Device Client Requirements

•      Considerations:

GoogleTM Users:   Do not run Google Sync to synchronize your BlackBerry's calendar with your online Google Calendar.  Doing so will cause duplication of appointments on the device.  Once installed, NotifyLink handles all calendar synchronization.  It is recommended that you disable or remove Google Sync.

•      Internet Connection Requirements:

You will need one of the following:

Cellular connection supporting data transmission through your mobile service provider.

WiFi connection with internet access.

Please refer to your device User Guide or contact your carrier/manufacturer for help in configuring this service.

•      Wireless Device Space Requirements:

You need 1.2MB of free space available on your device to install the NotifyLink application.  If you are installing DynoPlex files in addition to NotifyLink, you will require 2MB of free space.  Additional space is needed to store the notifications that you receive and messages that you send.

•      Wireless Device O/S Requirements:

Your device must be operating on BlackBerry O/S version 4.0 or greater.  In addition, O/S versions will determine the availability of certain NotifyLink features.

•      Attachment Viewing/Editing Requirements:

Attachment viewing/editing applications must be installed on the device in order to download and view attachments that are sent in DynoPlex format.  The applications can be downloaded along with the NotifyLink application.

Use of eWord and eCell requires the purchase of a licensed seat through Notify Technology Corporation.  The versions of this software purchased through Notify are configured to operate with the NotifyLink product.  Contact your Notify sales representative for further information.

A list of the available viewing/editing applications follows:

eFile – File system application used to store attachment files.

eWord – MS Word document editor (requires license)

eCell – MS Excel document editor (requires license)

ePad – Text file editor

Word Viewer – MS Word document viewer

PDF Viewer – Adobe PDF document viewer

PPT Viewer – MS PowerPoint document viewer

Verifying the Requirements on Your Device

Check the OS version on which your device is operating

Go to Settings > Options > About.  The device model and device software version will be displayed at the top of the screen.

Check Available Memory

Go to Settings > Options > Status.   File Free displays the amount of memory available on the device.

Check whether your device has been provisioned for data connection

Test #1: If you can connect to the internet from the browser, chances are you are data provisioned.

Test #2:  Check whether your device supports BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS).
From the Home screen select Options > Advanced Options > Service.  If there is a service book called, IPPP for BIBS [IPPP], the carrier supports BIS and the device is data provisioned.

Check whether your device is WiFi equipped

If your device is equipped with network connection alternatives (WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.) you may see an option called Connection Manager on the device’s main screen.  Open the Connection Manager and check for WiFi related menu items.  Some devices may only have an option to Turn Wireless On/Off.  This indicates that the device operates with a mobile connection only and does not offer connection alternatives.
