For NotifyLink for BlackBerry users with attachments enabled
An upgrade from NotifyLink Enterprise Server version 4.5.x to version 4.6.0 or greater will provide you with new download options for attachment support software.
Your options depend on the BlackBerry handheld operating system (OS) version and the NotifyLink Device Client version on your device. Therefore, your first step is to determine what OS you have….
Determine what OS your BlackBerry is currently running.
From the Home screen, select Options > About
The number below the device model number is the OS version number. EX: v4.5.0.89
• If your OS is v4.5 – 5.0, proceed with the Recommended Upgrade Path for BlackBerry Users.
• If
your OS is less than v4.5.0, check with your carrier to see whether an update to
OS v4.5 – 5.0 is available. Perform the upgrades then proceed with the
Recommended Upgrade Path for BlackBerry Users. See also Knowledge Base article 1155.
Where to find BlackBerry Handheld OS Software Updates
The table below lists several device/carriers that support BlackBerry handheld OS software versions 4.5 – 5.0. Since software availability changes with time, however, it is advisable to check your carrier site for updates.
Use this tool to access the various carrier/device links: http://notifylink.notify.net/downloadBlackBerryDesktop.asp Select your carrier from the pull-down menu under “BlackBerry Handheld Software.” Then download and install the most current OS available for your device model.

• If your OS cannot be upgraded to v4.5 – 5.0, proceed to Other Upgrade Options for BlackBerry Users.
Recommended Upgrade Path for BlackBerry Users
BlackBerry OS versions 4.5 – 5.0 come with Documents To Go®, which allows you to view Office files in their native format. PDF files can be viewed in native format with a purchased copy of a PDF viewing application, such as, BeamReaderTM or Documents To Go Premium.
Once you have upgraded the device operating system, follow the steps outlined below.
1. Upgrade your NotifyLink for BlackBerry Device Client software to v4.6.3 or greater.
a. Open the Notify BlackBerry Installer located on the BlackBerry Device’s desktop. The Installer will access the server and check for the latest version of NotifyLink. It will then check mark the application(s) which have available updates.
b. Click Continue to proceed with the download and installation process.
2. Obtain the latest version of and register your Documents To Go software. Follow instructions outlined in Knowledge Base article 421 to install or upgrade this attachment viewing application.
3. Install any additional attachment support software, such as BeamReader, etc.

The server handles attachment file types according to the viewing application(s)
used on the device. Users must set the format of the various attachment
file types on the NotifyLink server so that they synchronize in the
format the viewing application recognizes.
You must do this from the NotifyLink Client
Web.
a. Resynchronize your device with the server: From the Client Web, select General > Device and click the Synchronize Device button.
b. Set the format of the various attachment file types: From the Client Web, select General > Format. Follow the instructions in the Set Preferences for Attachment Handling on the Server section of this guide.
Other Upgrade Options for BlackBerry Users
Users with older BlackBerry devices that cannot be upgraded to OS 4.5 – 5.0 can retain the DynoPlex 2 application for attachment support. Note, however, that support for all DynoPlex applications will end with the release of NotifyLink Device Client v4.7 and NotifyLink Enterprise Server v4.7.
For enhanced PDF viewing, these users may also purchase and install a BeamReader license along with their NotifyLink seat. This application can be used if your device is running NotifyLink for BlackBerry 4.6.3 or later, a BlackBerry OS no less than v4.2, and is synchronizing with 4.6.x NotifyLink Enterprise Servers.
Users who opt to install enhanced PDF viewers should also perform the recommended upgrade path steps outlined above.
