Accessing the Company Directory

 

If there is a public address book enabled on the ActiveSync server, you can use the Company Directory feature to search for contacts, add contacts to your device contact list, or insert email addresses into email recipient fields.

Note: Company Directory is not supported on Zimbra mail servers

NotifySync sends search criteria you enter on the device to the ActiveSync server.  It is the ActiveSync server that determines what Contact fields are searchable and what constitutes a match between the search criteria and the searchable fields.

Company Directory can be accessed from:

•      The Contacts application menu

•      The Email application (Message List) menu

•      Any email recipient field (To/Cc/Bcc) on the Compose, Reply To, Reply To All, or Forward screens.

 

Search the Company Directory

1.  From the menu or any recipient field (To, Cc, Bcc), choose Company Directory.  The screen will either say Empty or it will display the saved results from the last completed search.  You can clear old results from the screen by selecting Erase Results from the menu.

2.  If the search query box is not already displayed, select Search from the menu.

3.  Type in a search string.  You can use one character or a partial string of characters for any field (name, email address, phone number, etc.) on which you wish to search.  The more you type, the narrower the search results.

4.  Press Enter to begin the search to find contacts that meet the criteria. The first 100 results will display.  If more exist, you can choose More Results from the menu.

View a Contact

•      Add a name to your address book from the search results: Highlight a name and select Save from the menu.

•      View the details of a name on the search results list: Highlight a name and select View from the menu.

•      Add a name to an email:  When the search is done from the Email message list or an email recipient field, select a name from the list and scroll to the email address.  Press Enter to insert the address into the recipient field.

Contact Menu Option	Description
Search	Perform a query on the Company Directory.
View	Displays all the contact information for the selected item in the list.
Save	Save a contact to the device address book.
More Results	Requests and displays the next 100 results when more than 100 results are returned from the server.
Email with NotifySync	Send a message to the email address highlighted using NotifySync.
Erase Results	Clears the search results list.
