Make some adjustments to device settings.
• Change the device’s backlight settings. From the BlackBerry Options (wrench icon), select Screen/Keyboard and adjust the Backlight Brightness and Backlight Timeout.
• Set ringtone to a lower volume and reduce or eliminate vibration alerts. These settings can be adjusted from the BlackBerry Profiles (speaker icon).
• Set connectivity options wisely. Turn off one or all of the options if you are not using them or know you are out of range. When WiFi or Bluetooth are on, they constantly try to connect to networks or devices. Even the device’s cellular radio constantly communicates with cellular towers to check whether or not you are in range. These options can be turned off and on via BlackBerry’s Manage Connections icon (tower icon).
