Folder Functionality

The folder list contains the entire mail folder structure from your mail account on the ActiveSync server.  This enables you to move messages around within the folder structure.  However, in order for the actual contents of your ActiveSync account folders to synchronize to the device folders, the folders must be selected for synchronization on the device via Folder Settings.  The Inbox is the only email folder tagged for synchronization by default.  All other folders must be tagged for synchronization in order for the actual folder contents (the mail inside the folder) to synchronize.  See Folder Settings

All selected email folders will contain only email that falls within the synchronization date range you have set for the device.  See Sync Settings

Inbox

The only folder that is tagged for synchronization by default.

Sent Items

Must be tagged for synchronization via Folder Settings.  Messages sent from the device synchronize to the server before they appear in the device Sent Items folder.

Outbox

Messages are stored here pending the next synchronization cycle unless you change an option, via General Settings, that will enable messages to be sent immediately.

Drafts

Must be tagged for synchronization via Folder Settings.

Deleted Items

Must be tagged for synchronization via Folder Settings.  Messages deleted from the device synchronize to the server before they appear in the device Deleted Items folder.

Custom Folders

Must be tagged for synchronization via Folder Settings.
