Equipping Devices with BeamReader

BeamReaderTM, SLG Mobile, Inc.’s PDF reader for BlackBerry, can be downloaded via the Check For Updates option in the NotifySync Preferences menu.  

In order to activate BeamReader software downloaded through the NotifySync application, the license for the product must be purchased through Notify Technology Corporation.  The software can be run as a trial until the purchase. 

BeamReader software may also be purchased and downloaded from the SLG Mobile, Inc. website.

Note:  Users with BlackBerry OS versions less than 7.0 may wish to purchase this application for viewing .pdf attachments.  Operating system version 7.0 or later, however, comes with the .pdf viewer, PDF To Go®.

BlackBerry OS v4.5 or higher

 

Procedure for Obtaining Your BeamReader Software Through Notify Technology

1.  Purchase a license from your Notify Technology sales representative

2.  Download the BeamReader software via the NotifySync Check For Updates option.

•      Open NotifySync and press the menu button.  Select Preferences > Check For Updates.

•      Check the BeamReader option and select the Continue button to download the application.

•      The BeamReader software you download may be used through NotifySync for the length of its trial period without entering a license key.

3.  To enter your BeamReader license key, select the BeamReader icon from the BlackBerry home screen and enter the license key issued to you.

Activate BeamReader by entering your email address and license key

 

If you wait until the trial period expires before you enter the license key, you will see the following message when you attempt to open a .pdf attachment:

“There is no application installed to view the selected attachment.  Would you like to select an application to open the attachment?”

 

Answer “Yes” and choose BeamReader.  When the application opens, enter the license key issued to you when you purchased the seat.  This will activate the license and enable you to proceed.

 

Transferring Your BeamReader License to Another Device

Your BeamReader license is tied to the BlackBerry device where you first activate it with a license key. To use BeamReader on a different BlackBerry device using the same license, you will need to initiate the license transfer process on your current BlackBerry. Use the Transfer License option from the BeamReader menu.
