Memos

Memos consist of a title and body text and can be used to record notes.  This PIM type corresponds to what is referred to on the ActiveSync server as “Notes.”

Memo synchronization settings determine whether or not memos are synchronized.  See Sync Settings for more information.

NOTE:  All PIM functions (Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and Memos) use the BlackBerry user interface, but process the data through the NotifySync application.

NOTE:  PIM items synchronize to the device in batches of 100 items or less.  When there are more than 100, one batch is sent per synchronization cycle until all items have been synchronized.

Limitations

Due to device OS or ActiveSync limitations, there are some restrictions associated with Memo synchronization:

Memo/Note synchronization is not supported on devices interfacing with an Exchange 2010 server.  Exchange 2003 and 2007 do support memos.

MemoPad may not be installed on your device by default.  Contact your service provider for more information.

Memos existing on the device at registration cannot be merged with server Notes.  Device memos will be deleted and server Notes items will replace them.

Memos added from the device will not synchronize to the ActiveSync server Notes.

Memos changes made from the device will not synchronize to the ActiveSync server Notes.

Notes added or changed, however, on the server side will synchronize to the device.  In addition, if you delete a memo on the device, the deletion will synchronize to the ActiveSync Server.

Use the Find Tool

Select the BlackBerry MemoPad icon from the Home screen to access your memo list.  The list displays and provides you with a Find tool to quickly locate the memo you want.  Enter as much of the memo title as you know.  With the entry of one letter, the list narrows to include only memos whose title contains a word beginning with that letter.  The more characters entered, the less inclusive the list becomes.   When you find and highlight the memo, pressing the Enter key will allow you to open and edit it.
