Attachment Retrieval

Requirements

NotifyLink currently supports attachments on devices with Palm OS 5 and above.

The mailbox server must be set to send attachments to your device (see Setting Your Notification Format).

You can open an attachment with a file viewer application or save it on a memory card.  If you do not have either of these on your device, you will not be able to retrieve attachments.

Messages that contain attachments display a paperclip icon on the message list.

1.  Open the message that contains the attachment.

2.  From the Message menu, choose Attachments.  A list of attachments associated with this message displays.  Attachments that show 0 bytes saved, have not been downloaded yet.

3.  Select the attachment you wish to download and then click “Yes” to begin the download.

NOTE: If your device has no applications with which to view attachments and does not have a memory card you will not be able to retrieve attachments.

NOTE: You can leave the attachment screen while the download completes, but you must return to it to view your attachment.

4.  Specify whether you want to open the attachment or save it.  The list of choices that displays depends on what applications are installed on the device and whether it has a memory card.

a.  If you choose to open it, the file is passed to the file viewer application and opened.

b.  If you choose to save it, a dialog displays where you can select the card and path to which you will save.

NOTE:  Do NOT remove the memory card while the file is being transferred.  Removing the card while it is being written to may damage it permanently.

Any other file type that has a supported viewer application on the device should function correctly.  One exception is .pdf files.  Adobe currently has a Palm viewer application, but the files must be converted to their Palm .pdf format.  If you try to open a .pdf file with the Adobe viewer from NotifyLink, the behavior may be unexpected.

Any type of file can be saved to a memory card.
