Registering Your Device

Until a device is registered, the NotifyLink application will not synchronize Email and PIM.  The registration process identifies you as a valid user on the NotifyLink Enterprise Server and allows you to begin using NotifyLink to synchronize the data between your device and your computer.  Registering the device consists of:

Accepting the Privacy and Network Usage statements.

Entering your Email Address and an Authentication Password

Performing an initial PIM synchronization (OTA Load).

Backup Before You Register.  The initial synchronization will remove all existing PIM items on the device and replace them with items from the server.  If there is PIM data on the device that is not on the server, you should back it up prior to carrying out this step.

Where to find your Authentication Password.  You can check the authentication password for your account from the client web.  From the NotifyLink Client Web, choose General > Device

Changing the Authentication Password.  Before you register your device you may wish to set your authentication password to something other than the default.  It is not necessary, but some administrators may direct you to change the password as an additional security measure.  See the instructions for changing your authentication password below.

To Register

1.  From the device’s home screen, select Installations (Apps) and then the NotifyLink icon.

2.  Answer Yes to accept the Privacy Statement.

3.  Enter your Email Address and Authentication Password as they appear on the server.

4.  Select Register from the Options popup menu.

5.  Select the Default Access Point.  Choose which carrier/network your device will access.

6.  Answer Yes to accept the Network Usage statement.

7.  Once registration is complete, you will be prompted to check for registration messages.  A registration update message is sent to the device Inbox and you are prompted to perform the initial synchronization (OTA Load) for the device.

8.  Select the PIM type(s) for which you are requesting an OTA Load.

9.  Select Options > Send.

10. Confirm the OTA load.  Answering Yes will proceed with the OTA load, removing existing PIM items and replacing them with those from the server.  Answering NO will register the device without performing the OTA load.
