Users of NotifyLink For Windows Mobile are part of a NotifyLink system and must first be set up with an account on an on-demand or on-premise version of NotifyLink Enterprise Server.
The information in this documentation is intended for use with both Pocket PC and Smartphone devices. Instances where functions vary due to device design are noted.
How to tell if your device is a Pocket PC phone or a Smartphone.
• Pocket PC Phones have a touch screen and come with a stylus. Also, the Windows logo appears at the top left of the Home screen.
• Smartphones do not have a touch screen or stylus and the Windows logo appears at the bottom left of the Home screen. Smartphones can have either QWERTY keyboards or 12-key keypads.

Navigating NotifyLink. Methods of accessing information vary between the two types of devices in part because of the Pocket PC’s touch screen capabilities. In order to make the documentation relevant for both types of devices the directions to NotifyLink programs are designed for use with a device’s left/right soft keys.
Directions to NotifyLink Preferences are presented in the documentation as follows:
Start > Programs (PPC) > NotifyLink Preferences
(PPC) indicates that the step is required for Pocket PC users only. Selecting Start on a Smartphone brings the user directly into a menu where they can access the NotifyLink Preferences.
If needed, instruction on other methods of accessing programs (touch screen or ‘recent program’ icons) is available through device manufacturer documentation.

Once installed the NotifyLink application handles email and PIM synchronization.

Windows Mobile® 6
When accessing the Inbox on a Windows Mobile 6 device, there is a prompt to setup a "New E-mail Account". To bypass this and access your NotifyLink messages, you will need to disable the account picker at startup. See NotifyLink Knowledge Base article 481 for instructions on how to do this.
|
Pocket Outlook® NotifyLink uses the device’s Pocket Outlook® user interface. Methods of accessing Email and PIM (Calendar/Contacts/Tasks) delivered by NotifyLink are identical to Pocket Outlook’s. NOTE: There are exceptions for several brands of Smartphones. If you cannot access your Smartphone Inbox, please check Knowledge Base article 163 for information on how to work around this temporary limitation. Pocket Outlook® features that are not applicable to NotifyLink are not documented in this guide.
