• Read through the product’s release notes before you begin the upgrade.
• Check the version of the NotifyLink Enterprise Server (NLES) system you are currently running. (Click the ‘About’ button on the Administrative Web console.) Follow the upgrade path consistent with the NLES version from which you are upgrading.

* For those upgrading from NLES versions older than 4.6.0, please schedule an upgrade call with Notify Technical Support so that they may assist you in the proper upgrade path.

• Check the collaboration suite versions supported for NotifyLink Enterprise Server v4.8.x. Supported collaboration suite versions for NLES 4.8.x.
• NLES version 4.8.x minimum requirements include Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or 2008. If you are currently operating with SQL Server 2000, upgrade to a machine running one of the supported SQL Server versions.
• Check the system hardware/sizing recommendations to verify that your current configuration still meets specifications recommended for the NotifyLink version to which you are upgrading and for the number of NotifyLink users you support now and in the near future.
• Inform users of the time and duration of the upgrade beforehand, since during the upgrade, NotifyLink services will be stopped. Duration will vary depending on the NLES version you are currently running. Upgrades from NLES version 4.7.x may take under 30 minutes.
• Consider NotifyLink Device App functionality. To experience full functionality, BlackBerry users should upgrade to the most current version of the NotifyLink device software. The NotifyLink 4.6 Device Applications for Palm OS, Symbian S60 3rd Edition, and Windows Mobile have reached their end-of-life and will not function with NLES 4.8.x. Users with NotifyLink 4.6 Device Apps for Symbian S60 3 or Windows Mobile can migrate to the NotifyLink ActiveSync solutions.
• If you are supporting users on PIM server types that are no longer supported by NotifyLink, please read Appendix B.
• If you are upgrading from NLES version 4.6.x read Appendix A.
